Orient Express Manufacturing - Email Solution

Email is essential to Orient Express Manufacturing (OEM). As an importer based in the U.S., OEM relies on email to keep in constant contact with their manufacturing facilities in the Orient. “It’s imperative that we keep every email we receive and send for our records”, says Denis Ross, President of OEM, “we’ve had a number of cases where finding an email from 5+ years ago saved us thousands of dollars”. Using Outlook for their email worked well for awhile, but after years of email, Outlook couldn’t handle the volume. Plus, backups, though imperative, were becoming an issue with the large amounts of data.

So, SlipFire moved OEM’s email to Google’s Gmail system. OEM’s employees now have the best of both worlds. They use the familiar Gmail interface, and get to use the OrientExpressMFG.com email address. Since Gmail was designed to handle large amounts of email, OEM’s email problems are gone. Additionally, the Gmail search feature allows them to find emails from 5 years ago in a matter of seconds, and it still works with their Blackberry’s. “SlipFire really came in and solved our email problems”, said Mr. Ross, “we never have to worry about our email system again”.

Foundation of Hope - Online Collaboration

As a non-profit, The Foundation of Hope ( www.fohnj.org) really needs to watch their budget. Using the open-source Thunderbird for their email system was fine, but their older computers were slowing with each email. Without money in the budget to replace their older machines, the Foundation contacted SlipFire for a solution.

Integrating the Foundation with Google Apps was the answer. Now all their emails were sitting on the Gmail servers, and their older machines had no problem retrieving their email. Additionally, they now had access to Google Calendar and Chat, which allow their employees too quickly and easily share information. The Foundation is now a tightly integrate workplace, and is still able to work on a tight budget.
